The aim of the Girls Brigade is to help girls become followers of Jesus and through self-control, reverence and a sense of responsibility, to find true enrichment of life. In Loughaghery Girls Brigade, we try to help girls find Jesus in their young lives, through various activities and teachings. We follow the GB Headquarters scripture course which the girls find very interesting and relevant. The young girls work towards various levels of badgework each year, by taking part in numerous and various activities, such as cooking, craftwork, physical activities, volunteering etc.

Loughaghery Girls Brigade also offers girls aged 14+, the chance to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. Various district competitions are held in girls brigade such as badminton, choral speaking, unihoc etc, and this allows the girls to meet other girls in the district GB’s.

The number of girls in the GB continues to grow each year, and the young girls all seem to enjoy being members of our company.

Recently the Senior girls of Loughaghery Presbyterian planned, organised and hosted a ‘Pink Party’ for Cancer Focus October Pink campaign. They did this under the service section of their badgework as they learnt more about Church and Community Service. They worked so hard in the weeks preceding the party and organised themselves into the various teams that were needed on the night – face painting, catering, games etc. They also organised the marketing of the night, the food that was required and the whole schedule of events. They were fantastic and their officers were very proud of them. They had asked for a small donation from each of girls in the other sections and they managed to raise a brilliant £250.00 which will go directly to Cancer Focus.
